The Annual Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim Race and Event

This is the best Open Water, Island to Island Swim in the Caribbean - if not the World. It takes place every March. The next one is March 26th 2017.

Nevis is the coolest island you've never heard of. It's part of a federation with St. Kitts & Nevis in the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. It's a tiny piece of paradise right here on earth. This tiny island with plenty of beautiful open water swimming locations is the start of the Nevis to St. Kitts Cross-Channel Swim.
The Nevis-St. Kitts Cross-Channel Swim is a 2.5-mile (4 km) swim held in March each year from Oualie Beach on Nevis to Cockleshell Bay on St Kitts.
Winston Crooke, President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Swimming Federation is standing at the ready in Nevis, "The 2017 swim will be the 16th annual Bente Weber Memorial Swim which offers the opportunity for veterans and newbie's - with or without fins - to take part in a swim across the Narrows," explained race director Crooke.
"The event started with 23 swimmers back in 2001, but has grown to hundreds of swimmers 14 years later, The event celebrates 16 years in March 2017. Although the swim crossing started out as a celebration and acknowledgement of one of our former members, Bente Weber, it has also become increasingly recognized as a 'Bucket List' option for many people, regardless of their swimming abilities. The event also reaches across the age barrier, as evidenced in 2012 when we had an 8 year old and an 80 year old complete the swim.
Race Director and Triathlete Winston Crooke says, There is a prize of $1,000 USD to anyone who can beat the best ever time for the fastest crossing.
